  • Project Title - "Information Retrieval on Disaster Tweets"
  • Learnt the concept of Information Retrieval; read some research papers on it.
  • Built BM25 model from scratch on a disaster dataset, FIRE 2016; did a comparison between 4 different cases.
  • Implemented Vector Space Information Retrieval Models on the same data using both Word Embedding and Document Embedding.

  • Project Title - ”Influence of Digital Media”.
  • Improved the code to scrape text reviews and other details from various websites.
  • Cleaned the data and made it usable for further processing.
  • Did Exploratory Data Analysis using the numerical data to study the trends and behavior.
  • Used different Natural Language Methods like Sentiment Analysis, Parts of Speech(POS) Tagging, Translation from Hinglish to English, Topic Modelling to extract features, gaining better insight from them.
  • Studied Fuzzy Matching and tried to apply it to the raw text reviews to check spellings and get the correct ones.

Writer Dependent Online Signature Verification - Image Classification

Research Assistant under Mr. Rashmirathi Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, BIT Mesra
  • Aim: To classify the hand-written signature images into genuine and forged categories; Dataset: MCYT-100
  • Extracted physical and frequency-based features from the images & built machine learning models to classify them.
  • Tested Models: XGBoost, LightGBM, Logistic Regression, Ensemble Method with hyperparameter tuning with randomized search CV and grid search CV; Best Results obtained – 87% accuracy.

Writer Dependent and Writer Independent Offline Signature Verification - Image Classification

Research Assistant under Mr. Rashmirathi Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, BIT Mesra
  • Aim: To classify the hand-written signature images into genuine and forged categories.
  • Did literature review on deep learning models for image classification & hand-written signature verification.
  • Used pre-trained transfer learning models to evaluate the performance for the classification of the writer-independent signatures into Genuine and Forged categories.
  • Below is the list of models and their validation accuracy obtained when applied to the SigComp dataset.
    • MobileNet V2 - 82.20 %
    • Inception V3 - 73.60 %
    • ResNet 50 - 85.20 %
  • Prepared the data for writer-dependent signature classification by extracting 21 physical features from each image.
  • Below is the list of Machine Learning models and their test accuracy obtained when applied to the SigComp dataset.
    • Logistic Regression – 82.74 %
    • Ensemble Model (Random Forest & SVM as base model and Logistic Regression as meta classifier) – 80.45 %
    • Xgboost – 79.40 %
    • Gaussian Naïve Bayes – 75.92 %
